justified annoyance?
So. I have a gnarly sinus infection. Hadn’t gone to grocery store in over a week so went to Publix this afternoon. I had my hands full and was loading my food onto the conveyor when a coughing fit hit and I did not cover my mouth but turned my head sort of into my shoulder but not totally into my arm while trying to quickly move the line forward. There was a woman in the line directly behind me, standing behind her cart, at least 5-6 away from me, cart at least 2 feet behind me and she says to me, very loudly: “Aren’t you going to cover your mouth?” With this horribly offended look on her face as she backed even further away from me.
I just turned around and looked at her like she had two heads and was too dumbfounded to say shit back. Like wide-eyed confusion, basically, REALLY? Though I obviously should have said “Maybe you should shut your mouth bitch.” I don’t know. Then she looked at me a minute and went and found a new line.
Maybe I’m in the wrong, but you go outside in public in cold and flu season, I don’t think it’s my responsibility to keep you germ free. And I would have covered my damn mouth if my hands had been free. OR what if I had coughed into my hands and then touched the numbers on the credit card keypad to key in my pin to pay? What a cunt. ALSO, maybe she (at least age 40) would have said the same shit to someone older but I look young and was wearing busted clothes and no makeup so I’m sure she thinks she’s superior or something. I don’t know. Wash your goddamn hands and keep your judgey thoughts to yourself.
I was pissed though. Always curious about other people’s thoughts though because my level of hatred for everyday shit is high. Should I not have been?
