There is a video of MTV’s True Life last night if you click on the link, you know you want to. The True Life focused on “I Work in the Sex Industry” and the video is about a straight dude who does gay porn.

Warning: the following is a bit much for little virgin ears/eyes.

“Gay for pay” has always, always fascinated me. Female porn stars certainly do it and it seems to be more acceptable to some extent. Hell, regular women go a little bi from time to time too - for free! Or, you know, for attention. But just how much money would it take for a (supposedly) straight guy to hook up with another guy? The guy in the video’s price is $5,000 per scene.

Is there something to be said for the idea that you can separate the physical act of sex from who the person is? A hole is a hole, right? Like you are not at all emotionally involved, you’re just getting the job done. I mean, hate-fucking is a relatively common term because it occurs. You can despise someone yet still sleep with them and enjoy it, is that kind of the same thing? Maybe, but men can’t exactly fake arousal. I just find it all very interesting.

On this note, I go back to one of my favorite stories that I usually present to all my guy friends to watch them squirm. One of my closest friends in college, Lauren, had this boyfriend Quinton. Quinton was from St. Louis, but moved to Richmond (Lauren’s hometown) when he was 24. When Quinton met Lauren he also met Lauren’s best friend Daryl, who is gay. Daryl and Lauren made a bet to see who would bed Quinton first. Daryl won.

One drunken night, Daryl and Quinton ended up in the same bed together and Daryl gave him a blow job. 4 months later, Quinton and Lauren were dating -very seriously. This was a couple years ago, but the last time I talked to her, they still were seeing each other (granted that was a while ago). Now Quinton may be gay and just not coming out, but Lauren swears that he’s just more open about his sexuality and things like that.

But my question is, does hooking up with a guy make Quinton more or less “gay” than a dude getting paid for sleeping with guys? Quinton was drunk. When I present this story to guys and ask at the end, how drunk would you have to be to hook up with a dude, they always have the same response: it would NEVER happen no matter how drunk I was. I’m inclined to believe them.

Food for thought.
