Article discussing that college is maybe not for everyone.
If I had been able to get a teaching job — or any well-paying job really — without a degree, I would have NEVER gone back to school. Have I learned a lot over my 7 years? Absolutely, but I learned just as much by working and growing up in general. College honed my argumentative skills though, which prepares me for very little, well without a law degree it doesn’t. A Rhetoric degree means that maybe I can convince you, in 3-5 pages, to hire me. It barely prepares me for teaching, I must continue school for that. College was hard for me and while I think that maybe it was the right choice for my life, I’m a liberal arts devotee, I do not think I should have been forced to go to school. My parents, if they had it all to do over, would have probably agreed to let me take some time off to grow up and work before I entered into such a costly venture as a BA.
