Women are doing it when they’re drunk and it seems like a fine idea not to use a condom. They consider themselves risk-takers by relying on the ‘pull and pray’ method, which more people seems to think is a valid form of birth control.

Yay me! In the latest issue of Page Six Magazine: “Generation Unsafe Sex” (via ameliamagritte) (via siddman)

Here’s my major question: why aren’t more women on birth control these days? I’m without health insurance and a student (for a few more days) and I’ve been on birth control for almost 10 years. I’ve been on the pill for those entire 10 years and I do not worry about getting pregnant because I take it correctly every day (not fucking hard to do). So I’m using condoms purely for STD protection and when in a committed situation, do not use condoms — because I’m on birth control. Have I been known to have unprotected sex? Unfortunately, yes, but never unprotected without birth control (still just as bad, I know).

I just do not understand why more women do not bother to take the pill constantly even when they find themselves without a partner. I’ve always been the kind of girl who would take risks and sleep with people randomly, get drunk and find myself out for a good time, so I never lapsed on the pill. If you are that type of girl, and are prone to that behavior, why would you ever play Russian roulette with your uterus? It would be so much worse to get pregnant by a one-night stand than a boyfriend. I realize it’s expensive, but for the past year I’ve been living on a very small budget and managed to get my pills every month and mine are not covered by insurance. Contraceptives are a godsend, and maybe I’m missing something, but why don’t more people see them as an option?
