Yesterday, Brooke and I went yard/estate sale hoppin’ throughout Atlanta. We hit all the ritzy ‘hoods: Cabbagetown, Candler Park, Highlands, and Lenox-Morningside. Among my haul, this very classy fake diamond ring. Wearing a fake diamond ring on your left ring finger is totally normal (not so much). I used to wear a fake engagement ring while waiting tables to garner favor and get larger tips, and now I just think it’s an amusing social tool. Shockingly, dudes are more likely to talk to girls wearing engagement rings (found in my very unscientific study). Yeah, I have no real excuse, it’s just fake diamonds can be fun, even more fun for $3.00.
Also included in my haul: a Coors beer sign with a 20s era flapper adorning it, the My Fair Lady broadway show record featuring Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, an HDTV essentials kit that originally cost ~$50.00 and purchased for $5.00, and 2 wineglass/champagne flute hybrids. Total cost: $14.50
I’m now a yard sale convert. I have a feeling springtime in Atlanta will mean early morning excursions to the sales, cash in tow, seeing the same customers at each stop. I welcome my old person proclivities… Working at a nursing home has taken its toll.
