jackieheartsb/booksarebetterthanboys/sexartandpolitics: Graphic Sociology » American Public Transportation - Costs and Usage
My goal is to continue to use public transportation to get to work and as much as possible even when I can drive again. Riding a bike on the streets of Atlanta is not the safest idea, my friend who works for the Clean Air Campaign told me that every bike commuter she knows has been hit by a car — not the best odds. What is frustrating to me is that public transit in Atlanta is not up to par, for such a large city, it should be better and there’s a stigma in this city about just who rides public transit. But also, I have found a bunch of jobs where they require someone to have a car and a license for the position (sometimes for reliability I guess or because they’re trekking around the city for work), so of course that person would have to commute to work in a car.
